Attention Lenscrafters shoppers

Luxottica, the parent company of Lenscrafters, buys Oakley Group for...a modest sum of 2.1 billion.

We say, the hell with Oakley, we never cared for that over-worked out, "Hello, I am on Prozac" look anyway. But what does it mean to consumers, especially those still hung up on Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith?
Yes, if you still don't know, Oakley Group bought Oliver Peoples not too along ago, inheriting at the same time the license to distribute Paul Smith Eyewear. Both tired has beens, OP and PS were never known for their creativity or quality and have not seen a fresh brush stroke in years and as such they will make perfect addition to Lenscrafters' line up of over exposed and peripheral brands.

I cant wait to get Oakley's in stock at my Lenscrafters (sometime in Q3, but who really knows). But this sale has more to do with SGH (Sunglass Hut) another Luxottica Retail brand. Plus Lux Retail needs brands for Pearle Vision and all there other brands so we dont end up all selling the same thing.

Maybe ther brand names will change, but the over lap in styles and color from one lux line to the other is a joke. I am amazed that people still go to these outlets for products. If I see one more group of girls sitting outside with there knock off or real double C's (Chanel) I am going to puke. By the way we are an independant optical with more then 30% growth in the past two years. Not pushing lux products.

I'm glad that Lux bought Oakley, at least Lux is better organized. Besides that Oakley’s product sucks, their corp. and management including reps are bunch of idiots...
