Orgreen Optics (Very) Limited Elektros

All of a sudden we started to run out of Elektro frames from the coolest Danish eyewear design house Orgreen Optics... As it happened, we realized - it is possible we will never have them again.... The shock of this revelation was such, several of us at Spectacles for Humans decided not to go on, if that's the case.

After only few months of offering Orgreen Elektros, everybody wants one. We were somewhat concerned with flooding our immediate neighborhood with these shockingly beautiful frames, but given Euro/Dollar exchange rates nowdays and limited immediate inventory, we worry no longer. In the meantime, while trying to figure the future of ELEKTROs, quicker with our guns than Marty McFly, we've swallowed the entire US inventory from Orgreen distributors and stocked our shelves good with Elektro beauties again.
We've learned recently that the production of Elektro Glamour frames, with their chameleon-like, iridescent finishes, is an extremely difficult and labor intensive process translating in short supplies. With only 35 pieces being produced at a time and with demand in Europe and Asia through the roof, most of the near future production is already allocated to fulfill the existing orders. Fortunately for you, we at Spectacles for Humans live and breathe cool eyewear, and when we find cool specs, they end up here fast!

Gennady, a seriously talented Russian musician residing in Peru, fell in love with Mandrake in Gold Elektro during his extended business trip in San Francisco and had to have it. His lovely wife Monola, as if not to be outdone, got one too ! Hers is the Spitfire in Violet Elektro. We are planning an evening together, so expect more Elektro pics!

You can see all styles from ORGREEN Optics , including the ELEKTROS at our trunk show is June 9th.

REIZ against the machines

David Pescovitz, a writer and co-editor of hugely popular blog about pop culture boingboing.net updates his look and goes for a pair of genuinely handmade frames from REIZ Augenspiel.
Nothing is left to chance when it comes to making REIZ frames and precision shows in every detail. From subtle hinges to mesmerizing 3-D design and subtle colors enhanced by hand polishing technique, REIZ spectacles are some of the finest examples of eyewear humans ever produced.

Veni, vidi, DITA!

Peter, a cool guy who runs his own graphic design firm out in beautiful Sonoma, taketh no prisoners. He ordered his Insider by DITA Select Opticals while they were still being packed for shipping. I promise to add his picture once the frames find his face.

All Select Opticals frames are leaving El Ay today and will be here manana!!

Oliver Goldsmith Archive Couture

We have been receiving numerous inquiries about Oliver Goldsmith Archive Couture pieces, but until we knew which way the wind blew, we just could not give definitive answers on options and pricing. It looks like things are about to change and for the better.

In few weeks, Spectacles for Humans will be receiving samples of custom colors just like those available at Oliver Goldsmith showroom in London. As soon as we have the color chips, we will start offering customized options such as vintage stock acetate and resizing. Until then, please visit us to experience the timeless beauty of Oliver Goldsmith 2007 Collection.

Maps - Don't Fear the Sun

Chaos and Control ... Flexibility and Strength... Straight Lines and Curves... Traditional Craftsmanship and Technology...

Another challenge lies in front of us - putting a collection together without seeing or touching it. More to come....

Gorgeous OG's are in stock

Caisa, Mistinguet, Tak, Amy, Audrey, Paw Paw and more!

We hate to present our customers with shoddy selection of choices and try to maintain a healthy inventory of not only styles but colors within each style as well. There is nothing worse than settling for a color that "comes close, but no cigars".
While it may sound to good too be true, don't think we are buying blindly. We take the process of elimination quite seriously and work constantly to guarantee the best selection possible.
Yes, it's the weekend ... and we are debating which Couture pieces we should have custom built, just for Spectacles for Humans and our clients.

Artistic flair from South of the border

Richard and Jimmy Ray, who divide their time between San Francisco and artist community of San Miguel de Allende in Mexico, were in the mood for new specs.
In addition to a cool pair of Orgreen Firebird in Brown and Lime, Richard also scored a Limited Edition White Lines frame from FUNK Royal Optics.

Jimmy Ray, who goes by Anado in the art world, sports a cool pair of Martin&Martin OTTO in faux marble and black.
Oh yeah, and there is more to these guys than just cool beards. Check out MADEBYANADO.COM to find more about the artist and his work. Make sure to click on Casa Las Ranas. Amazing place!!

Just found out and don't know anything about it just yet, except that there is a style called San Francisco. I doubt I'll be able to sleep tonight.

How are things on the West Coast?

LE MONDE:"Lunettes pour des Humains trunk show - succès sensationnel!"

We love trunk shows and our customers love them too!
Another spectacular event at Spectacles for Humans and the turn out was outstanding again, thanks in part to our new friends at San Francisco Bay Guardian who helped us with timely announcement.

In addition to fantastic selections from MYKITA, Oliver Goldsmith and Gotti , we were also lucky to show the entire line of SALT Optics, including the brand new ophthalmic styles.

Dexter, a very sharp looking dude out on a town with his lovely wife, took home a great pair of SALT polarized sunglasses.

Not everyone was trying the frames from lines of the day. Cornelia, an architect and a total hottie, already owns a beautiful pair of MYKITA Laika in Gold, and now has her eyes on a pair of DeromeBrenner handmade acetate aviators - Huggy 4 in Brown/Tourqoise.

Tom Cody, the busiest man in the industry, is happy with the turn out. Champagne flowed like rivers and everyone was having happy, happy time!
And here he is, both hands in the cookie jar! Tom is trying on a pair of Orgreen frames! Ha-ha!!

Sherry wanted a pair of classic Oliver Goldsmith frames and what better way to choose but at the OG trunk show! Taking the full advantage of unparalleled selection, she picked out one of the best designs - style Berwick in Black and Crystal. This will be an excellent addition to her collection of sunglasses. It looks stunning, but then again, what wouldn't in this case??

Tallying up at the end of the day.

A good dinner and drinks at ZUNI cafe was muchly needed after the show!!

Great show everyone!
Thank you all who came in and tried and bought. Your support makes such great events possible and enjoyable! And thank you those who popped in to say hello or just to try some frames on. That's cool with us too! We are always glad to meet and talk to people who share our passion and appreciation for exceptional eye wear design.

We hope to see you again and soon! Our massive ORGREEN OPTICS event is scheduled on June 9th! With Live DJ!!!

DeromeBrenner Bonny

Rachel is enjoying sun in her new sunglasses by DeromeBrenner Paris. Bonny, as in Bonny and Clyde, is a classic feminine shape and in this violet/multi color, it's a perfect match!

It'd be rude of me not to mention Clyde....

White Andy

Sherry is wearing a pair of 80's inspired shades from Danish designer Henrik Vibskov.

An odd man out on the Danish fashion scene, Vibskov's designs are one of a kind expressions reflecting his multi-faceted career not only as a fashion designer (he's on his 10th collection), but as a world renowned artist.
