Tanna wears one of the latest styles from ONKEL - model Faun in black/red acetate.
Based on last year's much successful Limited S-Glass Collection, new styles from ONKEL are finished in thicker, edgier acetates. Somehow they still remain incredibly light. A stylish mystery indeed!

Mike wears MYKITA Curtis in blackberry.

Mike, a member of SFPD tactical unit and an eyewear aficionado, came in a week ago when he needed help with his ic!Berlin specs. Once he saw MYKITA frames, and how different their construction was from ic!Berlin, there was no way of stopping him. He had t have it!

Daft Punk @ Greek Theatre

The show, to put it simply, was absolutely STUNNING !!!
Rapture opened, and Ed Banger's Sebastien and Kavinsky provided much needed mid-summer support.

If you missed it all, and shame on you if you live within immediate vicinity of tour venues, here's the Encore bootleg video performance from LA's show.

You must know who Kavinsky is by now.

Next on culture calendar: Daft Punk's ELECTROMA screening at San Francisco's Mezzanine.

See you in few weeks!

Working hard, the Parisian way

Love it or hate it (and ourselves, we are not fans of goofy eyewear choices usually, but the black and white piece is simply superb in this video), these kids rock their frames with great aplomb.

If They Tell You I Fell

Carl Zeiss Eye-Terminal

Owning and collecting beautiful eyewear is a great way to come in touch with your design and fashion aspirations, but let us not forget the main purpose of it all - crystal clear vision.

Big fans of German optics, we've recently become aware of an amazing piece of ophthalmic equipment from Carl Zeiss ... Eye-Terminal.

The great minds behind Zeiss, a true pioneer in optical field, created super sophisticated digital scanning system that helps Opticians to take most precise measurements necessary for fitting frames with prescription lenses.
Every aspect, however minuscule it may seem to human eye, is taken into account. Slight head tilt, true distance between eyes and lenses, frame angle, amount of wrap and even lens type; all are carefully examined and interpreted with unrivaled precision to guarantee the best possible acuity in the final product.

After making sure Eye-T was indeed available in North America, we quickly arranged a test drive with representatives from Zeiss. We absolutely loved what we saw and ordered it on a spot! Within weeks, Spectacles for Humans will become the first store in Northern California to offer customized Rx lens fitting with the help of Eye-Terminal from Zeiss.

Cool free standing unit is on its way to us and very soon, you will be able to experience vision the way it was meant to be!

October is around the corner

and we at Spectacles for Humans are busy making plans to visit both IOFT in Tokyo and SILMO in Paris.

Fascinated by all things Japanese from Cornelius' "Rolling Stone" to Amazing Cement Challenges, we want to explore more opportunities within this starlight culture. Already in the works are several potential additions to Spectacles for Humans and a trip to Japan will sure seal the deal.

Cornelius - Like a Rolling Stone

We are also very excited about going to SILMO again. And while we are flattered by countless invitations to sail up in style to Las Vegas, for West Coast's eyewear event of the year, sorry...We prefer to do our shopping in Paris. Please don't hate us for that...

People, we are fighting professional robbers to get the good stuff to you.

WeHo

As some of you may know, we are tight with uber-cool folks at SelfEdge, San Francisco's premier supplier of quality denim and overseas' fashions. Discussing current events and future prospects, it has come to our attention that expansion is a much needed maneuver for both companies and naturally we have set out sights on LA-LA land and , to be exact, West Hollywood's last bastion of coolness - Fairfax avenue.

There we were... Sweating in our Flatheads, VisVims and Vibskov's strong undies, pale and obviously not used to LA's sun drenched reality, we stood , drooling over magnificent (although defunct and in need of repair) neon LEADER sign above the building which was obviously exhibiting all signs of welcome to all of our expedition crew.

Will it happen? We don't know. It's all in the hands of God, as I see it. Being across the street from Canter's is probably not all that good for our health, but damn it... We want that space...

In any case, should it not go our way, we will overcome the emotional fracture caused by not getting in on a cool neon sign at the right time, but the fact remains just that... Both SelfEdge and Spectacles for Humans are coming to LA... and SOON! Just letting you know.

What gorgeous frames these are!
Gotta give it to designer Thakoon Panichgul for choosing to go to AlekPaul folks for his eyewear needs. Together they have created fantastic line of sunglasses that are not only beautifully designed, but of highest quality as well.

Archive Oliver Goldsmith styles coming soon!

It is such a pleasure dealing with Claire and her team over at Oliver Goldsmith showroom in London. Stuff gets done on time, questions are answered with no details left behind and the products are...Well, that's where we have to take a moment to explain.

Frames are rapidly becoming favorites at Spectacles for Humans, overshadowing and dwarfing other lines. All the cool kids on the block are rocking their Renzos and Amys, and all of us at SFH never shy away from stepping out wearing such classics as Mistinguett, Tak or Senja.
To make the story long, our clients, and we are blessed with most sophisticated, in the know bunch, simply adore them, and we think if there ever was a perfect line of sunglasses, this is it. We don't hide it either and if you never heard of Oliver Goldsmith, we'll help you to discover this fabulously grand brand, and will guide you through their timeless styles with patience....Oh, look! It's that Goggles advert again!

No matter what look you are after, a pair of OG sunglasses will complete it with charm and grace, taking your personal style to heights you never knew before.

MYKITA - 2007 LOOKBOOK

Don't get your hopes too high, you can't have them yet... again. Excited about the newly added images on MYKITA's site, I could almost smell the acetate.

How naive of me. New delivery date is pushed back way into September.
That's OK, most of us at Spectacles for Humans will recover from this unexpected blow. Some folks however, will never be the same...

Meyer Eyewear Acetates - first pics!

Big fans of Meyer Eyewear, we at Spectacles for Humans waited impatiently to see what these guys do next. Known for their excellent design skills, the Meyers prove they know a good line when they see it.

Attention Lenscrafters shoppers

Luxottica, the parent company of Lenscrafters, buys Oakley Group for...a modest sum of 2.1 billion.

We say, the hell with Oakley, we never cared for that over-worked out, "Hello, I am on Prozac" look anyway. But what does it mean to consumers, especially those still hung up on Oliver Peoples and Paul Smith?
Yes, if you still don't know, Oakley Group bought Oliver Peoples not too along ago, inheriting at the same time the license to distribute Paul Smith Eyewear. Both tired has beens, OP and PS were never known for their creativity or quality and have not seen a fresh brush stroke in years and as such they will make perfect addition to Lenscrafters' line up of over exposed and peripheral brands.

Kungsbacka

The Meyers love to name their frames after places they have been to and with Charlotta Meyer being charmingly Swedish, it's no wonder the names of the towns like Kungsbacka, Trondheim or Sundsval pop up in their collection.
Until she chose Meyer's model Kungsbacka, Yvonne, a busy gal and a fine diamond expert, had no connection to Sweden. We suspect bucolic images of Swedish countryside will be following her every time she wears her new frames.

Knight Music - Green River Killer

Disappearing fast

Karen wears THAKOON sunglasses by ALEKPAUL.

TK500 is a stylish take on a classic wraparound shape that will not make a girl look she is out jogging with Terminator (girls, give that look a rest already). Instead, subtle and sophisticated details together with softly colored, faded lenses will complete the look and keep your sexy on the front burner.

Orgreen fan mail

"I just received the Orgreen Hercules frames in Gold Elektro, and well, all I can say is WOW !!!
These frames are just gorgeous and the color is "breath-taking". I especially admire the black color inside which really accentuates the outside colors so much more. You have pumped up my glasses addiction to a higher level. Hats off to the Orgreen design team for such an innovative and appealing work of eyewear art."

Al in Tennessee is enjoying his new Hercules in Elektro by Orgreen Optics.

Chips ahoy

Custom color chips from Oliver Goldsmith are here!!!

As soon as few minor details are worked out, Spectacles for Humans will start offering customized frames from Oliver Goldsmith.
Wearing a pair of OG sunglasses is a life changing experience. Having a bespoke frame made just for you by a gang of potbellied craftsmen, is in the same league with space travel.

Choose a style. Choose a color. If resizing is needed, add another Benjamin, and you're on our list to be submitted to Robin Leach's program director.

CUTLER & GROSS

We took a second, extensive look at entire Collection of Cutler and Gross yesterday.
Lots of awesome vintage and vintage insipred material, but we have to pause for now. Local politics don't permit us to engage on full scale.
Great line though! Manufacturing origin cloud kind of hangs over our heads, as in " I don't knowfor sure where it's made" , but Gabriel the Rep, classically trained Optician from France, is a great guy and knows what he's doing. I'd love to work with him someday.

For now, if you see it somewhere else, try it on. Stuff is hot!

Expect the unexpected!
